Prompt bar
The prompt bar is where you type queries and commands. Above the input field, a small identity tab shows the host and working directory of the current session, so you always know which Enkaidu instance you’re talking to.
Each session gets a unique accent color derived from its working directory, making it easy to tell sessions apart at a glance — especially useful when you have multiple tabs open.
Multiple sessions: Each Enkaidu instance picks a free port when launched with
--webui. Run as many instances as you like and open each in its own tab.
Press Enter to send, Shift+Enter for a new line. Leading / sends an Enkaidu command; leading ! invokes a macro.
While Enkaidu is working, the input is replaced by a small set of pulsing dots so you know it’s thinking. The form itself stays in place.
Prompt history New in 0.9.13 New in 0.9.15
When the prompt bar is focused, you can navigate your prompt history with the Up and Down arrow keys while you edit a prompt: Up steps back through earlier entries (and Down steps forward again toward the prompt you’re about to send, restoring anything you were typing). The arrows only recall history when your cursor is at the top or bottom edge of a multi-line entry; otherwise they move the cursor within the text as usual.
You can also search your prompt history instead of stepping through it one entry at a time. Press Cmd-K / Ctrl-K to open a search prompt, then start typing to filter down to matching past inputs. Cmd-R / Ctrl-R open the same search prompt — handy if you already reach for those shortcuts in your terminal.
Prompt history is shared with the CLI and kept in sync: prompts you submit in the Web UI show up — and are updated — when you navigate history in the CLI (Up/Down while editing a query), and vice versa. Both arrow-key navigation and search run over that same shared history.
Macro picker New in 0.9.15
In an empty prompt bar, start typing ! and a picker of your available macros
appears; keep typing to narrow the selection, and it auto-completes the macro
name for you.
File finder New in 0.9.16
Press Cmd-F / Ctrl-F to open a file picker over the files in the current folder, then start typing to narrow the list to matching files. Press Enter on a folder to dig into it, and Enter on a file to select it. Esc accepts whatever you’ve typed so far.
